If you are thinking of taking the same plunge, I hope that this blog will be helpful to you. Maybe I can help you save some time, money, and anxiety. Heck, maybe I can even make you laugh a little! I'm going to provide you with hints, but also just tell you about the day to day events.
My house is going to be deep in the heart of Texas, because I am a Texas woman!
The great continent of Texas |
- Hint: Before you start this adventure, figure out what you need versus what you want. I know it may sound obvious, but just listen to me. Sit down and make a list of the items you must have in your new home, and then make a similar list of options that would be cool to have but are not essential. Revisit the lists as you start looking at model homes. You may find your lists change a lot before you sign a contract.
- Another Hint: Get a good realtor. I had the help of a fantastic, friendly realtor that knows my area like the freckles on her arm. I stumbled onto Darlene Campbell by accident, but she has been a Godsend. She asked me plenty of questions and helped me save a lot of money. For example, she educated me on the tax rates and HOA fees in the neighborhoods that I was interested in. That information kept me from wasting valuable time and energy on my weekends.
This is a very informative blog. I wonder when this adventure is complete if I will ever want to build a house? Whether the answer is yay or nay, the journey will be fun to live vicariously. Thanks, Suz!
